Student Credit Cards

Student credit cards are formulated to appeal to a younger demographic, who may or may not have an established credit rating. In some instances, student credit cards may not require a cosigner, or may reduce the APR after a set amount of time with no penalties. Several prepaid options are available as well, allowing parents to closely monitor a student's spending activity.

Student Credit Card Benefits

Student credit cards offer a number of features specifically designed for the needs of high school and college students. The main benefit of a student credit card is its contribution building credit history that will be important later in life when applying for other loans such as a mortgage or car loan. Issuers recognize that students may have no credit history or bad credit history.

Student credit cards also offer many of the great features associated with other credit card categories, such as rewards in the form of cash back, travel or points redeemable for merchandise.
